Ultrasonography is an easy and effective way for primary diagnosis of the pain and if the process provides negative result, CT scan can be used to diagnose further. Appendixdoes notappear generally in the ultrasonography procedure. However, after the appendix becomes swollen and start paining, the ultrasonography test provides a clear picture of 7 to 9 mm of swollen structure in the lower right quadrant of abdomen. Hence, it is an effective tool to diagnose appendix, if the patient is suffering from the disease (Kim et al., 2012). To detect the possibility of appendicitis, urinary 5-HIAA tests can be performed. The proportion of HIAA in bloodincreases with the onset of the disease and during the necrosis of the appendix becomes low in amount. Michael Mann Mr. Moran 2/22/2017 Beauties within life In the poem Starfish the author uses tone, imagery, symbol and theme to establish the wonderful mystery of life. The close analysis of life's fortune proves that life is a sequence of adventures that can be related to how starfish drift throughout the ocean content and dreamlike. The author puts the reader at ease by showing how everyday life can be so beautiful. The poem express the multiple enjoyments of life; especially the ones that go unseen. The speaker is very direct and straightforward but comes then comes across confused on the wonders of life and what that the meaning of life is to him. The speaker explains what life does but still can't figure out the "why" or "how". In stanza one the speaker questions if daily life has a hidden message for something greater but is still unsure. The speaker Has a clear and strong grasp on the present and future of life but seems to have a unclear grasp on the meaning of life. The the speaker has a tone that's direct and informative but at the same time questions his findings. "Life lets you take the dog for a walk down to the pond, where whole generations of biological processes are boiling beneath the mud...Are you old enough to appreciate the moment? Too old?" The tone is very direct and the speaker tells you what is happening but is this questioning that ends after stanza 2. In Stanza 3 and 4 the tone becomes direct throughout the rest of the poem but also the speaker seems to be distressed. Later on in stanza 5 the speaker becomes at ease with his worries and relates the multiple beauties of life to a starfish. " the starfish drift through the channel, with smiles on their starry faces as they head out to deep water, to the far and boundless sea." The speaker paints a visual image in the mind of the reader by telling the reader exactly what is happening. This technique actually makes it seem as though the actions taking place is something you have done. "Upon reflection, you are genuinely surprised to find how quiet you have become. And then life lets you go to think about all this. Which you do, for quite a long time." While reading this I felt everything the speaker was saying has actually happened and related to actual experiences in my life. Lastly the speaker touches on some valuable symbols. A recurring theme I found was patience. The speaker relates patience to life because all of his questions were answered with patience. The speaker realizes the the beauty of life is within the present and that just the way it is. Similar to a starfish, it can be broken down and regrow or it just travels through the ocean slowly and patient.

This code reasserted equality of all male citizens before the law and absolute security of wealth and private property; two principles of the Revolution of 1789. This code, had a supreme impact on the middle class, and also led to the establishment of the Bank of France. This Bank of France devoutly served the state as well as the financial oligarchy. This bank gratified the needs of peasants most, as Napoleon protected their gains in land and status they had claimed during the revolution. The Napoleonic code can best be described as the starting point of Frances success and national unity. The Napoleonic Code now is represented in not only France, but many other country’s constitutions and codes. Besides having a noteworthy effect on France’s government, Napoleon is most known for his exceptional military skills. Napoleon’s charisma and determination brought him to the head of France, and given the opportunity to lead France to victory. Napoleon’s victories began in Austria and Great Britain (the two remaining members of the Second Coalition). In his peace treaty with Great Britain, Napoleon allowed France to remain in control of Holland, Australian Netherlands, the West Bank of Rhine, and Italian Peninsula. Although eventually Napoleon’s army suffered defeat, he accomplished more victories and acquired an extreme amount of land for France. Through Napoleon’s impact on France’s government and military, he gained confidence for France and established a national unity. However his order and unity took a toll on women. Women were forced to being dependent of either a husband or father and had little say. Although these laws were not beneficial to women and all families, they were exactly what Napoleon needed for authoritarian rule. Through his military victories through out Europe, Napoleon gained the votes of citizens and was looked at as a hero and leader of France. Through Napoleon’s, Napoleonic Code and military domination throughout Europe, he can truly be looked at as one of France’s heroes. The irony of his success however, causes controversy after being bullied as a child and banished from his home, Corsica. I believe his struggles only made him stronger, and allowed him to prevail the way he did. Napoleon rose above what others expected of him, with confidence and pride to accomplish his passion. His commitment and dedication to military and artillery also allowed Napoleon to strive in tactics and lead him to be the great leader he is known as today.

Being a true disciple of Jesus Essay

A03. â€Å"It is not possible to be a true disciple of Jesus in the modern world† Do you agree? Christianity is a worldwide religion and this leads us to believe that it is possible to be a true disciple in the modern world. â€Å"Modern Christians believe that they are called to follow the example Jesus set. They spend time discovering the teachings of Jesus from the bible and trying to put those teachings into practice†. (Michael Keene). There are many examples of modern day Christians. Priests, Nuns and missionaries are examples of people who devote their whole lives to God. Oscar Romero was an archbishop in El Salvador where the government has constantly violated human rights. There are also many people living in poverty. Oscar spoke out about the government in sermons. In 1980 he was gunned down by four masked men. His last words were â€Å"May Christ’s sacrifice give us the courage to offer our own bodies for justice and peace†. I believe that Romero is an example of someone who followed Jesus’ example and was a true disciple. Many religious people take vows of poverty so that God is placed first above everything and that they do not get distracted by money. The Rich Man didn’t take this vow. â€Å"It is much harder for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.† (10:25). Maximilian Kolbe was a polish Catholic priest who was arrested and taken to Auschwitz, one of the Nazi death camps, in 1941. After three weeks of dehydration and starvation, only four of the ten men were still alive, including Kolbe. During the time in the cell, he led the men in songs and prayer. One day the guards picked out a man to be tortured to death but Kolbe said â€Å"take me instead†. The cells were needed, and Kolbe and the other three were executed with an injection of carbolic acid in the left arm. His heroism echoed through the camp and in 1982 he was made a saint. He once said, â€Å"My aim in life is to serve others†. He sacrificed his life for another and put God at the centre of his life. This makes his out to be a true disciple. Corrymeela is a peace group on the Antrim coast in Northern Ireland. The community is made up of Protestants and Roman Catholics. They live together, work together and worship together. It is a place where people can meet to discuss their differences in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. I think the people involved with Corrymeela are good modern day disciples. However, there are many challenges that make being a modern day disciple difficult. War, hatred and violence make it very hard to love our neighbour and forgive. The event of the world trade centre collapsing due to a terrorist attack on September 11th is an example of a difficult time to forgive. 2992 people were killed due to this attack. We live in a consumerist society were the emphasis on wealth is great. This can lead to injustices and selfishness. It distracts Christians from living a Christian life and makes it difficult for them to be true disciples. Years ago there wasn’t any trading on a Sunday leaving more time for prayer and worship. Nowadays most shops are open from 1pm to 6pm this leaves little time for the people who work to pray and worship. It has an impact on our Christian lifestyle. Modern moral challenges such as abortion are unchristian. Many women have this procedure done to remove a foetus from their womb. People see this as a form of murder and that it is immoral. I believe it to be possible to be a true disciple of Jesus in the modern world, although it is very difficult as there are many obstacles in the way. Christians today still see it as being their duty to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to others. This may be by doing missionary work or more simply by living out the Christian life and being an example for others.

While the definition of a sport may vary with the person, the dictionary definition of a sport can be best described as, â€Å"an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment† (Oxford Dictionary). Cheerleading has been a topic of an ongoing controversial debate as to whether or not it should be recognized as a sport. Players that engage in sports, such as, football, basketball, and baseball all display a genuine liking for their sport, which generally emphasizes why they take part in the activity.
